London
London's not so much a city as it is a collection of spaces connected by Tubes. In that way, it's like the Internet. I pretty much only know the slices around Tube Stations and the museums (and a little bit of Walthamstow and Croydon, thanks to Alison & Steve and Mark + Claire for taking me in!). Saw the Science Museum (Doron Swade, who I work with was there, just by chance, with the Babbage Engine that's coming to us soon!) and the Natural History (worth a trip and a half) and the V&A (Linda will flip out at one of the new rooms) and the Brit (I saw stuff) and the Cartoon Museum gave me a guided tour of all their stuff and I was so very happy to see it. it really is wonderful and any comics fan should makea stop by if they're going to the British Museum.

Oh yeah, got hit on by a waifish Amy Winehouse wannabe (she was freaky, but I managed to avoid her by transfering a stop earier than I planned), ran into friends, managed to win a bet, saw James Bacon nearly eaten by a couch as he was watching Ireland get beat by England in Rugby, and I've managed to get myself good food at every turn. Can't wait for the con.
Chris

I plan on wearing Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirts and thongs everywhere, keep correcting people that they're really called Elevators, and plan on making sure every one remembers we saved their ass in World War II.

Yeah, it's goona be a fun con!

I wonder whether USian usage of 'thongs' is closer to British or Australian here...

If you really want to get their attention, wear a fanny pack and refer to it by that name.

Oh yeah, according to the minutes of the last meeting, you are to hold a BASFA meeting at the con.

I often feel this way about Melbourne because we have no car so I get around on public transport.

Glad you're having a good time!

I, too, am jealous.

But I console myself by telling myself that the current project at work could not possibly have spared me for a week. The two days I'm taking to go up to Norwescon (plus the weekend) are negatively impacting things as I'm the critical-path resource. And recreating Blankity Blank would have been more difficult than just running Match Game because we mostly have all of the sets and SFX built for the latter and just need to feed more questions into it.

Glad to hear you're having a good time. Looking forward to hearing more reports.

You bastard! I am so freakin' jealous!! Not only that, but you didn't even try to save James Bacon's bacon? Was he writing another article while the couch was eating him?
